1This small brick building is in Wortham, Texas and stands next to a beautiful two story Victorian house built in 1895.  The size is right for a calaboose and because it is across the street from the one built in 1925 and still standing  (see Calabooses) and next to a house built and lived in by a Judge the possibility that it was built as a calaboose must be considered.  The only memory that the owners have about its past use is as a garage and workshop for a doll maker.  There is only one window but it has metal bars inserted into the wooden window frame.  These could have been installed for other reasons but their presence adds to the speculation that this small structure was indeed a calaboose at one time.

On the side facing the street, there is a large opening that has been filled in with windows and a door.  It is not known if this was an entry way for a carriage or automobile or if the bricks were removed to create this wall for a later purpose.
