Columbus

The Sanborn maps dated 1885 (Sheet 1) and 1890 (Sheet 3) depict a one-story city office building and calaboose (both made of wood)  in the town of Columbus, Texas. It was located in the middle of Spring Street at the Intersection of Spring and Travis. In 1896 (Sheet 3) it was gone and a two-story concrete jail occupied 207 and 208 Washington Street.

Eagle Lake

There was a one-story wood calaboose in Eagle that that burned in ____.  Two Negro prisoners died in the fire.  This tragedy was reported in the _____.

Weimar

The Sanborn map dated June 1896 (Sheet 1) shows a two-story brick calaboose in Weimar, Texas.  It was located in city block 5 on lot 32 near the corner of Exchange and Jackson streets.  The street address for this lot is 101 Jackson.  There was a one-story addition (probably an enclosed porch) on the east side.  At the time this map was drafted, there were no other structures nearby.  The closest was a group of wooden buildings in lot 27.
